BUFFALO, N.Y. - Pitt Petri on Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo will close at the end of the month, according to store owner Pitt Petri Jr.
The store has been selling high end luxury merchandise at the location since 1924.
Petri Jr. says the poor economy has hurt sales over the past few years. In addition, the closing of other nearby stores has hurt the downtown retail market.
"We are now really the only one left," said Petri Jr. "It's a wonderful area for offices and businesses, but not such a good area for retail. Were we to come back, it would be in a different location."
Petri Jr. would not rule out opening in another spot in Western New York.
Pitt Petri also had location on Madison Avenue in New York City and on Main Street in Williamsville.
For now, all items at the Delaware Avenue store are 50% off.
