BUFFALO, N.Y.- There's a new non-profit organization in Western New York, and its goal is to help families in need.
Seven Chances, Inc. has a name that's designed to start a dialogue.
"We strongly believe that these families not only deserve a chance, but chances to get back on their feet," said Kimberly Rauscher, one of the group's volunteers. "We are designed to identify local families who are struggling with various needs. These families are well-deserving of help, but oftentimes don't have the means or ways to get the help."
One of the first families on the non-profit's radar, is the family of Buffalo Police Officer Gary Sengbusch.
Sengbusch was injured back in February, when the off-duty officer was hit by an alleged drunk driver. The group help organized a benefit Saturday at Flying Bison Brewery, with part of the money going to Officer Sengbusch and his family.
