LOCKPORT, NY -- The Lockport City School District has cancelled classes for students on Friday following the wind storm that took down power lines and trees.  DeSales Catholic School in Lockport is also closed Friday.

You can check to see if you're school is closed by clicking on Closing Central.

Thousands of residents are still without power caused by the high winds Thursday.

Earlier, city officials lifted the no unnecessary travel due to to several tree limbs falling during Thursday's wind storms.

Mayor Mike Tucker called 2 On Your Side Thursday morning to issue the warning.  He said there weren't any serious injuries due to falling limbs, but this is a precaution the city needed to take.

He told us that a woman on Pound Street was taken to the hospital after a tree fell on the hood of her SUV.  The tree raised the back half of her car off the ground, luckily the driver was taken to the hospital with only minor injuries.

Earlier in the morning, on a call to the Niagara County Courthouse, a clerk told 2 On Your Side that the lights were flickering on and off in the building.
