Former Bills receiver Andre Reed is a finalist for the sixth time and will find out Saturday if he's been elected for enshrinement to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Reed has been patient.  The numbers are there.  His Hall of Fame worthiness is not in significant dispute.

He belongs in the Hall of Fame alongside Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith, and former head coach Marv Levy as a member of the Bills teams of the early 90's that went to four straight Super Bowls.

Yet receiver has been a historically difficult position for induction.  This is Reed's seventh HOF campaign... his sixth as a finalist.

He's still waiting to hear his name called.

The finalists for 2012 feature two other receivers.  Tim Brown and Cris Carter against whom Reed will have to compete for votes.   Their numbers are better, but Reed has made significant headway among the voters during the past two years.   That momentum could very well carry him into the hall this year.

I spoke to Reed from his home in San Diego this week.  Click on the video player above to hear the conversation.
