Teen Dies in Fatal Stafford Crash

STAFFORD, N.Y. - A 17-year-old man has died and a 49-year-old woman is in serious condition following a crash on Rt. 33 Saturday evening, according to police.

State Police say that 17-year-old Collin Crane of Batavia died in the crash.

State Police say two cars collided head-on on rt. 33 near rt. 237 shortly after 6:20 p.m. Saturday.

Police say 49-year-old Carmen Vega, of Leroy, was taken by ambulance to Strong Hospital in Rochester with a severe leg injury.

Batavia City Schools posted a message on facebook to students and staff annoucing that grief counseling will be available at Batavia High School starting Monday and will continue throughout the week.

A memorial service for Crane is planned for Wednesday at 10 a.m. at H.E. Turner and Co. Funeral Home in Batavia.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
