High Blood Pressure in Young Adults on the Rise

many young adults may have undiagnosed high blood pressure.

researchers at the university of wisconsin examined the health records of nearly 14-thousand u-s adults.

all had been to the doctor several times within the past few years and had multiple elevated blood pressure readings.

yet -- 67-percent of 18- to 24-year-olds never received an official hypertension diagnosis.

54-percent of those over 60 remained undiagnosed.

doctors say a diagnosis is the first step toward getting treatment -- and getting blood pressure under control. hypertension is a risk factor for heart attack and stroke.
