NORTH COLLINS, N.Y. -- The Erie County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be a dangerous prank involving highway signs.

The Sheriff's Office said Thursday that highway signs have been switched twice in the past month.

In December, the road name signs were switched at the intersection of Genesee Road and New Oregon Road.  Thursday morning, the stop signs on Shirley Road were moved to Jennings Road.

The Sheriff's Office is asking that members of the public be alert to any suspicious vehicles or people near any intersections in the area, as well as any signs that appear to have been tampered with.

Anyone wishing to report any incidents or provide any information is asked to contact the Erie County Sheriff's Office at 858-2903.
