BUFFALO, N.Y. - Western New York missed out on tens of millions of dollars in 2012.

The money was supposed to go toward road and bridge projects.  On Thursday, lawmakers could find out why.

A public hearing is taking place in Albany with officials from the State Department of Transportation who will answer questions from lawmakers.

The problem is a huge disparity in the amount of money allocated for projects and the amount actually spent.
Western New York was promised approximately $166 million in DOT core program funding.

In reality, only $72 million has been spent in this fiscal year.
In addition, Western New York was promised approximately $147 million in NY Works funds, but only $12.5 million has been spent here.

State Senator Tim Kennedy will be at Thursday's meeting and said he is going to hold officials accountable while there is still a couple of months left to move some of the money.

Kennedy also plans to raise questions about the future of the Buffalo Skyway.
