KENMORE, NY - Today is day 17 of our Good Story Challenge and this morning we're introducing you to a woman who's been teaching generations of Western New Yorkers to move their feet.
Jackie George celebrated her 80th birthday on Wednesday, and she's been spending the last 29 of those years as a ballroom dance instructor.
She says she was born to dance, but didn't start teaching until later in life.
Her classes started small, now she teaches at the Brounshidle Post in Kenmore twice a week because so many people come to learn from her.
She says she and her students stay healthy and young at heart with the motto - "keep dancing."
"At the end of all my dances I say keep dancing and all my people know that. So I feel I've brought a lot of joy to people. Like I said, they've met, gotten engaged, they've gotten married. And they tell me, 'Jackie, we fell in love doing the tango in your class,'" says Jackie.
Jackie also hosts monthly dances that are open to everyone. The next one is Saturday, March 9th. She teaches a free lesson from 7 to 8 and then the dance with the live band goes from 8 to 11.
