The Bethlehem Steel Building in Lackawanna.
BUFFALO, N.Y. - A state Appellate division judge has dealt another blow to a group trying to save the former Bethlehem Steel administration building from the wrecking ball.
Judge Rose Sconiers Thursday denied issuing a temporary restraining order (TRO) to the Campaign for Greater Buffalo. The organization has been desperately trying to prevent demolition of the structure, which was built back in 1901.
This latest move was taken pending the Campaign's appeal of Judge James Dillon's decision last week lifting an earlier TRO placed on the building.
The group says they are aware of at least two inquiries into the purchase of the Beaux Arts building. Their lawsuit also claims that the current owners, Gateway Trade Center, Inc. have not complied with the state's Environmental Quality Review Act.
