ROCHESTER, N.Y. (From Bisons.com)- It seems like in each game in this young season, a different Bisons player has stepped up to lead the team. It was Andy LaRoche's turn on Saturday.

The veteran infielder had four hits, including his first home run of the season, to lead Buffalo to a 9-2 victory over the Red Wings from Frontier Field. LaRoche drove home three, scored three times and threw in a stolen base as the Bisons improved to 3-0 on the year.

In a marathon game that lasted three hours and 49 minutes, LaRoche got Buffalo on the board first in third inning. After a two-out single by Luis Jimenez, LaRoche homered to left field on a 2-0 pitch from Shairon Martis. The ball flew just over the leaping glove of Brandon Boggs and into the Bisons bullpen for the 2-0 lead.

Buffalo tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning. LaRoche was one of six Bisons to single in the frame. Anthony Gose grounded one off the pitcher to score a run and Josh Thole got into a rundown after his single to right field to allow LaRoche and Luis Jimenez to score.

After a 6-0 lead shrunk to 6-2, the Bisons put the game away with solo runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings. LaRoche led off the seventh with a single, stole second base and then came around on Munenori Kawasaki's grounder through the left side.

Five other Herd hitters joined LaRoche with multi-hit games. Eugenio Velez had three and scored a run while Jimenez had two singles, two walks and a pair of runs scored.

A combination of five Bisons pitchers walked 11 Rochester batters but allowed just two runs on seven hits. The Red Wings went a combined 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.

Former Red Wing closer Bobby Korecky got the win, striking out two in 1.1 innings of work. The appearance was the righty's first since pitching in 153 games with Rochester, 2006-2008.

The Herd will look to complete the two-game sweep in Rochester on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
