BUFFALO, N.Y. - A ceremonial groundbreaking will be held this weekend to celebrate the beginning of construction on the HARBORcenter complex.
The event, hosted by the Buffalo Sabres and HARBORcenter Development, LLC, will feature a number of guest speakers, including, Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula, Mayor Byron Brown and County Executive Mark Poloncarz.
The ceremony takes place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the construction site just across the street from the First Niagara Center.
The $123 million project will feature office space, stores, a hotel and ice rinks.
The rinks are slated to open in September 2014, when the main structure is expected to be complete. The opening of the hotel will follow in the spring of 2015.
