BUFFALO, N.Y. - An alert has gone out to members of the Canisius College community warning to be on the lookout for suspected "bottle bombs".
The warning comes from Buffalo Police who notified the college's Public Safety office that a Meech Street resident picked a plastic bottle from his front lawn which then exploded in his hand.
The devices commonly known as "bottle bombs" are made with combustible elements mixed with a liquid which causes a chemical reaction that causes them to explode.
The man was not seriously hurt. Those who live in the area are asked to be aware of any suspicious items found on the street or lawn and to call Public Safety immediately at 888-3197.
