AMHERST, NY - Making dreams happen is something that 16 year old Teagan Faran of Willamsville, NY is familiar with.

Her volunteer efforts for the Dreams from the Heart Camp will allow several local children with congenital heart disease to experience their dreams by attending a fun and free camp experience in a safe and medically supervised environment.

Founded in 1994, the Dreams from the Heart Camp is run solely by volunteers  and is dependent upon people like Teagan Faran to ensure that their camp can continue their efforts each and every year.

For her part, Teagan recruited the Village of Williamsville Arts and Culture Committee in February of 2013 to put together a benefit concert to raise money for the camp.

She contacted several local businesses and was able to enlist the help of a number of them.  Many of these organizations even helped her advertise.

With a near-capacity crowd on the night of the concert, Teagan was able to raise $2,000 for the camp and send approximately 6 kids to camp this summer.

In her nomination, Teagan put the reason for her efforts very simply:

" I have felt such a strong support from this area - from scholarships to teacher dedication - that I felt a need to give back and show my gratitude.  We gave what we could - time, music, and compassion - and now we'd like to help as many others as possible."

It is for these reasons that Bryant & Stratton College has named Teagan Faran the April winner in The Great Give Back 2013 and has donated $1,000 to the Dreams from the Heart Camp to match her generous efforts.
