Last Day of Spring

BUFFALO, NY - The last day of spring is Thursday and calculations show Buffalo's spring temperatures and rainfall were above average this year.

June has been a very wet month so far with rain received at 5.29" which is well above the average at this point (June 20th) of 2.41".

For the astronomical spring (from March 20th until June 21) the rainfall totaled at 13.23" which is well above the average of 9.82", by 3.41" to be exact.

However, the meteorological spring (the months of March, April, and May) rainfall totaled at 8.55" which is below the average of 9.34".

There was also a warmer than average meteorological spring with a mean temperature of 46.87 degrees F, which is above the average mean temperature of 45.6 degrees F.

Spring is finishing up dry.  Summer is starting off warm and dry, beginning early Friday morning.

Today: Mostly sunny and milder with a high of 77.

Tonight: Mainly clear skies, low 59.

Friday: Mostly sunny, high 81.

Also, there's a "super" moon right now.  Best viewing nights are on June 22 and 23.  This full moon is also the closest to the Earth of the year thus a supermoon, and appears larger and brighter. The next time this will happen will be in August, 2014.
