BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres announced a succession plan Thursday morning for Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Rick Jeanneret.

The Sabres say Jeanneret has signed a new three-year contract and will remain the primary play-by-play voice of the team through the 2015-16 season.

Jeanneret, however, will reduce the number of games he calls during that time and step away from the broadcast booth at the end of the deal.

After he retires, Jeanneret will remain with the team in an honorary capacity.

The Sabres also announced Thursday the hiring of veteran broadcaster Dan Dunleavy.

The team says Dunleavy will be Jeanneret's substitute and eventual replacement.

Dunleavy comes to Buffalo from the Toronto Maple Leafs broadcast team.

He will begin substitute play-by-play duties this season and appear on-air during pre-game and post-game coverage on the Sabres broadcast.

Rob Ray and Brian Duff will continue as color commentator and in-game-host as well.
