LOCKPORT, NY - They say a criminal always returns to the scene of his crime. In the case of a series of robberies at a Lockport Rite Aid store, that old saw proved to be true.

While Niagara County Sheriff's Office deputies were investigating the thefts on Saturday the suspect they were looking for showed up, and then ran for it when approached by deputies.

Deputies used a Taser to arrest 31-year-old Jason L. Benedict when he refused their orders to stop.

Their investigation implicated Benedict in at least five previous larcenies of merchandise, valued at a total of $1,500, from the Rite Aid at 6616 Lincoln Avenue. He was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.

He's being held on $1,000 bail and faces a future court date in Town of Lockport Court, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
