Buffalo, NY - A Muslim organization here in the US is launching its third annual blood drive with a special message of service to the community.
The Ahmayidda Muslim Community USA is sponsoring the collection of blood for the next two months through October 11th in an interfaith program to honor the victims of the 9 - 11 attacks and the Boston marathon bombing. They also want to stress their connection with this country as American citizens and the need to serve in this campaign. Ansar Khan says "First I'm a Muslim and an American and there is no conflict between the two. But it is our duty to go out and promote the peace with tolerance that our religion teaches. And whenever something happens I feel just as bad any other American feels. Because if we allow the terrorists to hijack our religion that's not fair to anyone."
They hope to collect nationwide 12 - thousand pints of blood which could help save an estimated 36 - thousand lives.
Another blood drive will be held Wednesday October 2, 11 am to 3 pm at the Baird Research Park, 1576 Sweet Road, Amherst, NY 14228.
