Amherst, NY -- Dozens of neighbors from Amherst are speaking out against a proposed senior living facility that would be built on Youngs Road.
They fear it would devalue their homes and cause traffic problems. Neighbors are upset because they tell us they only found out about this six days ago.
Tuesday night, the attorney representing the developer asked for more time to hold a meeting with neighbors to answer their questions.
The neighbors are upset because they don't want 99 senior living apartments in their neighborhood. The buildings would be three stories tall and would include garages. The neighbors like the woods, but the land is zoned to allow these apartments.
The developer is asking for some zoning variances for space between buildings, but neighbors just oppose the project no matter what. The zoning board will take this up again on October 15.
