Canadian Company to Build Buffalo Plant, Create 250 Jobs

BUFFALO, NY - The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority is selling its remaining land on Buffalo's outer harbor to a Canadian company called Gracious Living.

The company, a manufacturer and distributor of outdoor furniture and housewares, plans to build a factory on the site.

According to Governor Andrew Cuomo's office, Gracious Living will invest tens of millions of dollars into injection molding equipment and infrastructure, and create 250 new jobs in Western New York. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz praised the agreement for its job creation and economic boost to the Outer Harbor.

"It's exactly what I've been talking about for some time now," Poloncarz said. "We need to focus on our friends in Canada."

The 49.5 acres of property are located at 901 Fuhrmann Boulevard and and includes Port Terminal buildings A and B which have previously been used by Tops Markets, Euro United, Sonwil Distribution, Nano Dynamics and Empire Liquidators. The NFTA is selling the land for a negotiated price of $4.7 million.

Gracious Living will have a 120-day due diligence period to conduct environmental testing and other investigations.  

According to Cuomo's office, Gracious Living will receive $2 million in tax credits from the state.
