ORCHARD PARK, NY-- An Orchard Park woman is accused of altering her infant child's food source by mixing breast milk with ethanol.
Kimberly A. Lawton, 36, of Glendale Terrace, was arrested Thursday. She has been charged with attempted felony assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Court papers say on or about April 4th of this year, Lawton allegedly tampered with her infant son's food source "for a purpose other than a lawful medical or therapeutic treatment" that if ingested could cause injury or death to the child.
Orchard Park Police said they were contacted by the child's biological father. The child is currently with his father and is doing well.
Erie County and Chautauqua County Child Protective Services are also involved in the case.
Orchard Park police declined to release a motive for the incident.
Lawton is being held at the Erie County Holding Center on $50,000 bail. She's due back in town court for a felony hearing next week.
