BUFFALO, N.Y. - An NFTA bus driver from Buffalo is getting national attention for his heroic and compassionate act.
Darnell Barton can be seen on bus surveillance video driving toward Buffalo State College when he spotted a young woman standing outside of a railing on a narrow ledge.
He stopped the bus, full of passengers and called out to her. The woman appeared to be on the brink of suicide. It was then that Barton got off the bus and tried to communicate with the woman. He eventually sat down on the ground next to the woman and put his arm around her.
Barton was able to get the woman to safety. He is now being called a hero.
