Niagara Earns NCAA Bid

LEWISTON, N.Y.-For the fourth time in program history the Niagara Purple Eagles hockey team will play in the NCAA Hockey Tournament.

The team gathered at Dwyer Arena Sunday evening to watch the selection show. They watched as they were given the No. 3 seed Purple Eagles and a date with No. 2 North Dakota in the west regional on Friday, March 29 at the Val Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich. The puck is scheduled to drop at 5:30 p.m. ET and will be aired live on ESPNU.

Niagara head coach David Burkholder told  "To be recognized by college hockey for a great season, and invite us to the NCAA Tournament is very special," head coach David Burkholder said. "The players have worked so hard for this opportunity and that is what makes it so rewarding."
