Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Cedrick Lindsay scored 19 points and dished
out four assists to help lead the Richmond Spiders past the Fordham Rams in
overtime 77-74 in an Atlantic 10 bout at Rose Hill Gym.
Lindsay was 4-of-12 shooting from the floor and 10-of-14 from the free-throw
line in the game. Terry Allen came off the bench to score 18 points and grab
seven rebounds for the Spiders (11-6, 1-1 A-10). Kendall Anthony netted 13
points and Derrick Williams added 10. The win snapped a two-game losing
Branden Frazier scored a game-high 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting for Fordham
(7-8, 0-2). He added six rebounds in 41 minutes of action. Jon Severe was the
only other player to contribute double figures for the Rams, netting 19 points
on 4-of-22 shooting. Ryan Canty and Ryan Rhoomes each grabbed 11 rebounds for
the Rams. Fordham has lost four in a row and five of its last six games.
Richmond didn't blow Fordham away in the first half with its shooting,
connecting on 40 percent of shots from the floor. Fordham shot a dismal 23.7
percent in the first half, yet was only down 29-28 as the teams went into the
The Spiders improved to 47.8 percent shooting in the second half, but was 3-
of-12 from distance. Fordham connected on 46.2 percent of its shots in the
second frame and 3-of-8 from 3-point range.
A missed Frazier jumper at the end of regulation sent the contest to overtime.
Richmond went 4-of-5 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, in
the overtime period, while Fordham connected on 3-of-7 in the extra time. Each
team hit four free-throws in overtime.
Richmond held the edge in bench points, getting 29 from its reserves to
Fordham's 15. The Rams won the rebound battle, 49-35, but were outshot in the
contest, 47.2 percent to 33.8 percent.
