Marty Brown gets 300th Bisons win

SCRANTON, P.A. (From Bisons.com)- Buffalo Bisons manager Marty Brown earned his 300th victory as manager of the Bisons tonight as the Herd defeated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 6-2, at PNC Field.

Brown, who managed the Bisons to three straight winning records from 2003-2005, becomes the first manager to win 300 games in the club's modern era. His 300 wins are the 7th most in 128-year history of professional baseball in Buffalo.

Brown debuted with the Bisons in 2003 and led the Herd to a 73-70 record. He then was named Baseball America Minor League Manager of the Year in 2004 for leading the Bisons to an 83-61 record and a Governors' Cup Championship. Brown's 2005 Bisons went 82-62 and captured the team's second consecutive International League North Division Title. The manager finished his first tenure with the Bisons with a 238-193 record and a .552 winning pct.

Brown's 2013 Bisons are 62-58 and currently in 2nd place in the International League North Division.

The winningest manager in Bisons history is George Wilste, who had a 591-497 for Buffalo from 1918-1924. Bill "Derby Day" Clymer was 582-450 with the Herd from 1913-1914 and 1926-1930. George Stallings (549-386, 1902-06 and 1911-12) and Ray Schalk (544-508, 1932-37 and 1950) also won 500+ games for the Bisons. "Major" Kerby Farrell was 422-380 in six seasons for the Bisons, 1959-1963 and 1965, while John C. Champman posted a 318-316 record with Buffalo, 1885-1888 and 1893-1894).
