Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - An offensive explosion during a seven-run
seventh inning handed Patrick Corbin his first loss of the season and
propelled the New York Mets to a 9-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks
Tuesday at a rainy Citi Field.
Josh Satin snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI double prior to the contest heading
into a 1-hour and 41-minute rain delay, and when play resumed New York added
four more run-scoring hits to pave the way to its second win in as many
Anthony Recker hit a solo homer and drove in a pair and Omar Quintanilla drove
in three while accumulating two hits to provide Jeremy Hefner (3-6) with
plenty of support.
Hefner tossed seven innings of one-run ball and allowed just four hits while
striking out six. The righty has a 1.51 earned run average over his last six
Corbin (9-1) was aiming to become the first Arizona starter to win his first
10 decisions, but loaded the bases in the seventh before giving way to the
rain delay. He was charged with five runs on six hits over six frames.
