ORCHARD PARK, N.Y.-This off season the Buffalo Bills have completely retooled the franchise from the top down. Among the changes they have new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Both Mike Pettine and Nate Hackett addressed the media Tuesday in the Healthy Zone Fieldhouse.
Pettine has been given the job of rebuilding the Bills defense which was porous last season. Pettine's squads are what the Bills weren't last season and haven't been for awhile aggressive, disciplined and tough. That will be a pleasant change for the Bills and their fans.
Pettine the Bills are going to be relentless and aggressive. "I think you can eliminate some of the youthful mistakes by putting pressure on people. We just feel like we're building a wall and every day we're putting a brick in the wall. We just want to make sure its a good solid brick. We want to build this thing from the ground up."
On the offensive side of the ball coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, on top of everything else, is charged with bringing along number one draft choice E.J. Manuel. Hackett likes what he sees from the quarterback out of Florida State but says he still has an awful lot to work on. "He's doing a really good job and he's doing everything we ask and learning every day. He's a young man who has to work on a lot of things. From footwork to progression to plays to formations to everything. There's a lot more rhythm to it. You see him stepping up and making
some plays. Those are things he's got to get used to. Those are things we ask him to do here."
The Bills final Organized Team Activity this will be Wednesday.
