DETROIT, MI - Sabres Coach Ron Rolston says the Detroit Red Wings have it all, and he welcomes the challenge as they open the regular season Wednesday night at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

"They're fast, they're experienced. They've got a lot of good hockey players and good goaltending; well coached; at home. We could have a long list, we could scroll it out here in front of me," said Rolston.

This will be Rolston's first regular season game as a permanent NHL head coach. Last season he held the interim tag. He says there is no better way to jump in than head first, facing the best.

"It'll be good, we want to challenge ourselves and we're playing three teams that are going to be top teams. So we'll see where we're at in a hurry, but we want to challenge ourselves. We'd rather do that than not, that's how you get better," said Rolston.

The Sabres will get a better look at how far they've come and how far they still have to go as the puck drops at 8pm.
