BUFFALO, NY - It's been a long haul, but construction work on Metro Rail lines on Main Street in the Theater District is finally wrapping up.
NFTA officials on Saturday announced that regular rail service will be returning to Buffalo's light rail rapid transit system on Tuesday, October 15.
"I want to thank all of our customers for their patience and loyalty during this phase of our improvement project," said NFTA Executive Director Kim Minkel in a prepared statement.
Construction crews have been at work on the project to return cars to Main Street from Shea's Performing Arts Center (where trains transition between the aboveground and underground portions of the track) south to Chippewa Street ever since May.
But don't get too comfortable. Construction work on the 500 block of Main Street gets underway next spring.
