ORCHARD PARK, NY - Brooke Driscoll and Katarina Ulsrud are not only neighbors but best buds who are on a mission to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

"The more we go around we find all different people touched by the disease in some way. It really is a big deal here in WNY," said Katarina.

For Brooke, it's personal.  She lost her mom to the disease seven years ago.

"She was just very caring and loved her work and loved her family. A very strong woman and didn't let cancer define her," said Brooke.

The pair has been collecting donations for the Bosom Buddies Walk for the past six years.  The event raises money for the Breast Resource Center at Roswell Park, which offers support for those battling the disease.  There are also programs to help patients cope, like free wigs for those who have lost their hair after cancer treatments.

To date, they have raised $20,000 for the center.

The Bosom Buddies Walk is Saturday, September 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the East Aurora Ice Rink.

Daybreak's Heather Ly is proud to be this year's honorary chairperson.
