New research reveals omega 3 fatty acids may not boost thinking and memory after all.
Earlier studies suggested omega-3's found in fatty fish and nuts may help delay or even prevent cognitive decline.
But data from over two-thousand older women show no difference in memory test results between those with the highest and lowest blood levels of omega 3's.
There was also no difference in how fast their thinking skills declined over time.
Researchers say despite these results, fish and nuts are still healthy alternatives to red meats and foods high in saturated fats.
