William Street Post Office
BUFFALO, NY - The U.S. Post Office is considering closing Western New York's main sorting facility as the postal service deals with billions of dollars of debt.
That decision is expected to be made in the next several weeks.
So, we wanted to know why, if it could possibly close, are they putting out the help wanted sign at the William Street location?
2 On Your Side asked their spokesperson just that.
"We still process a lot of mail in WNY and we still need to make sure that we deliver excellent service," says spokesperson Karen Mazurkiewicz. "These positions are really not career positions, but our ability to continue to serve our customers and get the mail out and even if the decision to close the facility comes, it wouldn't happen overnight."
The William Street location employs 700 people. The 50 new hires would be temporary positions as mail processing clerks. If you are interested you can apply online.
