PORTSMOUTH, VA - UB forward Mitchell Watt made a strong impression this week at the annual Portsmouth Invitational.
Watt played three games with the Norfolk Sports Club team, winning two. In his final game on Saturday Watt finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds and a game high four blocks. Watt set a tournament record with a total of 13 blocks in three games.
Watt tipped off the tournament back on Wednesday with 11 points, 8 rebounds and a game high seven blocks in a losing effort. Watt's team would bounce back with a win Thursday as he scored 14 points and added 7 rebounds and two blocks.
The Portsmouth invitational is an annual tournament that features 64 of the top senior college players from across the nation. Representatives from every NBA team are in attendance.
Watt is the second UB player to ever play in the 60-year history of the event. Turner Battle was invited to play back in 2005.
Watt was named the MAC player of the year after averaging 16.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.2 blocks per game during his senior season at UB.
