Eric Smith's parole hearing was postponed Tuesday for completion of records which includes material submitted to the board by outside parties.

The hearing was rescheduled one month.

Smith was convicted of killing 4-year-old Derrick Robie in Steuben County in August 1993.

The hearing in May will be the sixth time Smith will have gone before a parole board since he was transferred in 2001 from a juvenile facility to maximum security Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, Clinton County.

Smith, who is now 32, was 13 when he lured Robie into a wooded area near the boy's Savona home. Robie was walking alone to a summer camp at a nearby park. Smith strangled Robie, smashed his head with a rock and sodomized Robie with a stick.
