(wgrz.com) - After weeks of speculation, the Bisons confirm an agreement has been reached on an affiliation with the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. The Bisons will send out an official press release Tuesday.
The affiliation marks the end of Buffalo's partnership with the New York Mets, which has been taking place for the past four seasons.
The move will make sense geographically as Toronto's former Triple A club played in Las Vegas. Toronto is also the closest city with a professional baseball team to Buffalo.
The Bisons have gone a combined 260-313, with no playoff appearances, under the Mets organization which could also be a contributing factor to the Bisons wanting to leave for Toronto.
A news conference announcing the new affiliation will be taking place on Friday.
