A new study reveals the key to teen happiness may have nothing to do with the latest gadgets or designer jeans.

Researchers at california state university found teens with a more positive, grateful disposition -- were 15-percent more satisfied with their lives than those who were ungrateful.

Grateful teens were also less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol or have behavior problems at school.

And while gratitude was linked to happiness and hopefulness ... teens who were less grateful had higher rates of depression.
