BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Response to Love Center on Buffalo's east side is a place for people in need to go to for a hot meal and a warm place to visit.
But, the Response to Love Center is the one in need right now.
As staffers and volunteers served the annual Thanksgiving feast, they were without heat due to a broken boiler that needs to be replaced.
The cost to replace the system may top $50,000.

Some spare parts for boilers are hard to find because of the massive repairs to heating systems which are underway downstate in buildings flooded out by Hurricane Sandy. Fortunately parts were found in Rochester which can be used for the boiler at the center.
But again there are significant costs because new piping must be installed and asbestos must be removed.
"Any little dollar or twenty five cents would help," said Sister Mary Johnice, Director of Response to Love Center. "Just make it a mission for the community because they know the good that's being done here, not only through the sisters, but through the volunteers as well."
Sister Johnice says the lack of heat did not affect their Thanksgiving feast. And many of the volunteers and those who showed up for the meal agreed that there was still a sense of warmth from the spirit of generosity.
