BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Police are investigating an accident in which two people were killed.
It happened around 7:00 p.m. when police say they pulled a driver over for a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Fillmore Avenue and Best Street.
The driver then sped off and hit three light poles near the intersection of Fillmore Avenue and Riley Street. The driver of the car was killed and an innocent bystander, Ida Murphy, was killed by one of the falling light poles.
According to Erie County medical examiners, the driver, 48 year old Issac Parker of Buffalo, died from a gun shot wound.
Buffalo Police say the female pedestrian, Ida Murphy of Buffalo, died of blunt force trauma.
Friends and family say Murphy, 54, worked at a local pantry and was well-liked by everyone.
