BUFFALO, NY -  Buffalo Police are asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident that seriously injured a woman.

The accident happened January 16th around 1:15 p.m. on East Delavan at Appenheimer Street.

Investigators say a woman in a motorized wheelchair was returning home from bible school at Mt. Olive Church when she was hit by a vehicle, knocking her off the wheelchair.

Police say the driver of the vehicle then backed up in an attempt to go around her, but struck her again as the victim pleaded to the driver to stop.

The black Dodge Durango, with front end damage, then fled east on Appenheimer, dragging parts of the wheelchair underneath it.

A video camera captured the vehicle as it drove away.

The woman, a 61-year-old Buffalo resident, was hospitalized at ECMC.  She was released from the hospital Wednesday.

Police are looking for a black, 2004-2009 Dodge Durango.  They're asking for help from any auto repair, salvage yard or parts supplier who may have had contact or worked on a vehicle matching that description since January 16th.

Anyone with information regarding this hit and run is asked to call or text the Buffalo Police Confidential TIPCALL Line at (716) 847-2255 or email the department at www.bpdny.org.
