The Bills don't figure to be major players or make major headlines when the free agent signing period opens on Tuesday.

Last year they made major headlines with the signing of Mario Williams.  This year, they figure to deal with some key needs by shopping below the top tier of highly expensive talent.

They have many areas of need that include receiver, linebacker, safety, cornerback, and offensive line.

Saturday, the Bills re-signed former first round pick Leodis McKelvin to a reported 4-year deal worth $20-million.   McKelvin's strength is the return game, as there are still major questions about his abilities as a corner.   The Bills also used the franchise tag on safety Jairus Byrd, and signed linebacker Bryan Scott to a one year contract.

Of course, a huge question still revolves around the quarterback position.  Ryan Fitzpatrick is due a $3-million dollar roster bonus on Wednesday.   GM Buddy Nix won't say so publicly, but it's believed Fitzpatrick has been approached about restructuring his deal to provide some cap relief.   The Bills have declared there will be an open competition at quarterback this summer.

Tim Graham joined 2-On-Your-Side's Adam Benigni on Thursday of this past week to look ahead to free agency and the draft.  You can watch more of that interview by clicking on the video player above.
