BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Developer and former gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino was overwhelmingly victorious in the race for the Park District seat on the Buffalo School Board.

Paladino defeated his opponent, Adrian Harris, 79% to 20% in an election marked by high turnout in the Park District.

"You all did it for the kids. You did it for 'something better' for the 31,000 children that have been suffering in an educational system that today, 44 of 56 schools in the system are failing," said Paladino to supporters who gathered in South Buffalo.

Paladino says the first resolution he wants to sponsor as a board member will call for the resignation of Superintendent Pamela Brown.

"She's gotta go, I was told that the say yes people who were partially responsible for bringing her in have stated that they would buy out her contract if we didn't want her there. So that would be nice of them," he said Tuesday night. "I think we have to get a leader in place who can take us to a better day. All this dialogue and collaboration and nonsense, it's all the leader. Somebody that understands what the problems are. Somebody that's been there already. Solved problems before. The best. The best person we have available right here. They don't have to go on a national search anymore. That nonsense is over."

Paladino won't join the board until this summer but he told us he plans on speaking at Wednesday night's meeting.
