Lockport Soldier Drowns in Texas

FORT HOOD, TX--  Officials from Fort Hood say a soldier from Lockport died of an apparent drowning this past weekend.

Officials say Pfc. Christopher Kent Heinz, 25, drowned July 14 at Stillhouse Hollow Lake, Salado, Texas.

Heinz joined the service in January 2012 as a combat engineer.  
He was assigned to Company C, 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, in May 2012.

During his service, Heinz has been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
