BROCTON, NY-- Calling hours continued Friday for the Brocton teen who died from a hit on the football field.
Wednesday night, the community gathered to share memories of 16-year old Damon Janes at the Brocton football field.
The vigil drew more than a thousand people, some of whom traveled from neighboring towns and villages to show their support.
They released lanterns into the air and lit candles on the ground.
"Damon was a really special kid for my son, and most of the students in Westfield and Brocton. Good athlete, excellent student. Very contagious smile. If you ever saw the pictures, very contagious smile. Everybody loved him." That's very evident... considering all the people who came to say goodbye on this night," says School Board President Doug Walter.
Thursday's calling hours are from 2p to 4p and 7p to 9p at Morse Funeral Home in Brocton. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lakeshore Assembly of God in Westfield.
