BUFFALO, N.Y.- Buffalo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Pamela Brown wants to hire former consultant Mary Guinn as the district's interim deputy superintendent, according to a report by The Buffalo News.

The school board voted two weeks ago to end the contract with the consulting company Guinn works for, Croft and Joftus.

Guinn was being paid more than $290,000 a year in a combination of company and grant money and was doing deputy superintendent work.

According to The Buffalo News, Brown can appoint Guinn without the school board's approval.

'What we're looking to do is to have a 90 day transition period with Croft and Joftus, the consulting firm that she works for," said school board President Barbara Seals-Nevergold.

However, Seals-Nevergold would not say that Guinn couldn't be appointed Interim Deputy Superintendent in the future.

Guinn's future was not formally discussed during Wednesday's school board meeting at city hall.
