Buffalo Police Investigate Two Friday Shootings

The Buffalo Police Department is continuing to investigate two separate shooting incidents on Friday night involving four different people.

The first incident happened around 8:30 p.m. near the 200 block of Minnesota. A car driving eastbound was struck by gunfire, and subsequently collided with two parked vehicles. A young girl standing in a nearby driveway was also struck in the leg and is currently suffering from a fractured femur.

The operator of the vehicle, Edward Battles of Buffalo, was taken to ECMC where he is in critical condition.

The second incident happened around 9:15 p.m. in the Ferry-Fillmore district. David Hyshaw of Buffalo was found lying on the sidewalk upon arrival of officers. He was rushed to ECMC and pronounced dead once her arrived. The second victim, Dewey Taylor of Buffalo, suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg and was treated at ECMC.

The two victims were standing in front of a house on Fillmore Ave. when multiple gunshots were fired at them by at least three black males in dark clothing.

It appears that these two incidents are not related.
