SOUTH BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Monsignor David Lee, the pastor at Our Lady of Charity Church on Ridgewood Road in South Buffalo, was tied up and robbed late Friday night.
Buffalo Police say they arrested the three men behind the robbery. There names are: Duane E. Dalton, 24, Michael Rodriguez, 31, and Daniel Bernardi, 21.
All three suspects live at an address on Harvey Place.
A spokesperson for BPD says the three suspects forced their way into the priest's residence. One of the suspects had a knife, according to investigators.
The men made the priest open a safe and took off with money and other items.
Police say the suspects tied up the priest before taking off.
Buffalo Police officers arrested two of the suspects on Hopkins Street right after the crime, and then picked up the third assailant an hour later on Harvey Street, South District Chief Thomas Moran said.
In a statement released Saturday, Bishop Richard Malone of the Buffalo Diocese said, "I give thanks to God that Monsignor Lee was uninjured and I am grateful to the Buffalo Police officers of the South District who made quick work in apprehending the suspects. We will keep Monsignor Lee and the parishioners of Our Lady of Charity in our prayers."
Police say the priest was not seriously hurt.
Charges include first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a weapon.
