Samsung's Galaxy Gear hasn't been available for purchase for very long, but it's considered by many to be the leading smartwatch on the market right now.

It alerts you to notifications from your phone, can make and receive calls and texts, has a built-in camera, and even has a gyroscope and accelerometer that respond to movements to track exercise, among other features.

The Gear retails for under $300. For now, it is only compatible witht he new Galaxy Note 3, but Samsung says it be eventually be compatible with other Galaxy phones.

There are other smartwatches on the market, too, like the Pebble. It is smaller and cheaper (at under $150) but has limited features. It is used mostly to alert the consumer of notifications sent to the accompanied phone. It works with any Bluetooth-enabled device.
