Vermont Flies Past Purple Eagles 92-70

Burlington, VT (Sports Network) - Four McGlynn scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures for Vermont as the Catamounts beat down the Niagara Purple Eagles 92-70 as part of BracketBuster weekend at Roy L. Patrick Gymnasium.

Matt Glass notched 19, Clancy Rugg had 15, Luke Apfeld put in 14 and Brendan Bald chipped in 11 to round out the double figure scorers for Vermont (19-10) which has won 10 straight. Rugg also brought down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Antoine Mason paced Niagara (12-17) with 20 points while Malcolm Lemmons put in 17 and Juan'ya Green added 12.

Vermont was impressive in the first half racking up a 52-29 advantage at the break by shooting 56.3 percent from the floor including 5-of-11 from three point range and a perfecet 11-of-11 from the free throw line.

The second half was more of the same as despite a solid 50.0 percent shooting performance by the Purple Eagles in the second frame, the Catamounts continued to shoot well at 53.9 percent.

Vermont almost doubled Niagara's output on the glass as the Catamounts outrebounded the Purple Eagles 42-22.
