(bisons.com)-A nine-run first inning outburst lead Durham to an 11-7 win over Buffalo Monday  in the first game of a four game series at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Ricky Romero got his fourth start of the season for the Bisons.

The left-hander failed to make it out of the first frame, allowing eight earned runs on five hits while walking five.

Durham's Brandon Guyer lead off the game with a single to center and two batters later, Will Myers hit a home run to center, giving the Bulls a 2-0  lead just three batters into the order. Leslie Anderson followed Myers' home run with a single of his own and Shelley Duncan continued with a double to left field. Mike Fontenot continued the destruction with a single to left, scoring Anderson.

With two outs, Romero walked three straight batters and Bisons manager Marty Brown had seen enough. Chad Beck came in for Romero and allowed a single to Jason Bourgeois, scoring Cole Figueroa to give Durham a 6-0 lead.

Myers got his second at-bat of the inning, and followed up his home run with a double to left, scoring three runs to increase the Bulls lead to 9-0 after just the first inning.

The score was 10-0 Durham in the fifth, when the Bisons cut the Bulls lead in half with what they have done best this season- hit home runs.

Mike Nickeas lead off the inning with a walk, Mike McCoy singled to right and left fielder Eugenio Velez walked to start the inning for the Herd.

Moises Sierra hit a double to center field, clearing the bases to put Durham's lead at 10-3. Sierra broke out of his 5-for-42 slump over the last 10 games in which he hit .119.

Sierra finished the night 1-for-5 with 3 RBI's.

Two batters later, first baseman Mauro Gomez hit his ninth home run on the year and the Bulls lead 10-5 after the fifth.

In the seventh, Gomez hit another home run for his 10th of the season. He finished 2-for-4 with four RBI's and two runs scored.

Chad Beck threw three and a third innings for the Herd. He allowed four hits, two runs while walking just one.

Dustin McGowan and John Stilson each threw two innings and struck out three.

The series continues with a single game Tuesday night in Durham. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
