(bisons.com)-Three Bisons players had two RBI's as Buffalo hit its way to a 10-4 victory Saturday night against Scranton Wilkes-Barre Saturday night at PNC Field.
The Herd offense produced 15 hits and got a four-run fourth frame against the Rail Riders, who were sporting their unusual alternate home jerseys that featured multicolored puzzle-like pieces on both arms.
Buffalo used three consecutive doubles in the fourth inning to take the lead for the first time in the game. Jim Negrych, who played third base, doubled to score Mauro Gomez and Luis Jimenez. Left fielder Ricardo Nanita doubled to center field, scoring Negrych. Second baseman Mike McCoy doubled to score Nanita giving the Bisons the lead, 4-3.
The Herd added one run in the fifth and sixth innings to increase its lead to 6-3.
In the fifth inning Luis Jimenez singled on a ground ball to left field, which scored Ryan Goins who was on second after a base on balls. In the sixth, McCoy and catcher Mike Nickeas doubled back-to-back to go up by three.
Goins finished 1-for-5 with two RBI's and Negrych, Jimenez and Moises Sierra all went 2-for-5 against the Rail Riders.
Starting pitcher Claudio Vargas threw six and a third solid innings for Buffalo. He struck out six batters, while allowing four earned runs and two walks. Vargas improved to 5-5 on the season.
Sierra led off the seventh inning with an infield single to Wilkes-Barre pitcher Josh Spence. Negrych singled to center followed by a McCoy walk. With the bases loaded, Nickeas got his second RBI of the night on a single to left field to score Sierra and Buffalo went up 7-4 with one out.
Goins hit a two-RBI single to center with two outs, scoring Negrych and McCoy and the Bisons led 9-4 heading into the seventh inning stretch.
Scranton scored three of their four runs in the first three innings.
The Rail Riders scored first in the second inning with both runs coming with two outs. Thomas Neal doubled on a line drive to left field and Bobby Wilson doubled as well to put Scranton ahead early. Alberto Gonalez followed up with a single, scoring Wilson and giving Scranton a 2-0 lead.
The Rail Riders added to their lead in the next inning after Dan Johnson singled in Zoilo Almonte to go ahead 3-0 before the Bisons scored four runs in the fourth and never looked back.
The series continues with a single game at Scranton Wilkes-Barre Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm.
